Why is Jesus Precious?
(Matt. 26:6-13)

Intro:

Webster's 1828 dictionary defines "precious" as - "Of great price; costly; as a precious stone, highly valued; much esteemed" - The ointment was precious because Jesus is precious.

I. Because He is chosen of God - (1 Pet. 2:4)

When it came time to provide Salvation, there was only one choice - He did not choose an angel, or a man.

II. He is the Chief Corner Stone - (1 Pet. 2:6)

A cornerstone represents a starting place - everything is measured, leveled and squared from that point.

III. Because We Believe - (1 Pet. 2:7)

It is not religion, ritual, sacraments or traditions that are precious, but Jesus Christ!

IV. Because of his Redeeming Blood - (1 Pet. 1:18,18,2)

Why do Christians put so much emphasis on the blood? It is precious - it cleanses our sins (1 Jn. 1:7).

V. Because He Is Righteous - (2 Pet. 1:1-2)

His righteousness not only paved the way for my salvation, but is an example to follow.

VI. Because of His Sufficiency In Our Trial On Earth - (1 Pet. 1:3-9)

VII. Because of His Promises - (2 Pet. 1:3-4; James 5:7-8)

VIII. Because of His Word - (1 Sam. 3:1; Jn. 1:1,14)

IX. Because of His Salvation - (Psa. 49:6-8)

X. Because of His Sight of Our Deaths - (Psa. 116:15)
